Test expermentally as OK12716, this new HRW release from OSU features a very high yield ceiling with wide geographic reach. This same desription applies to the 2017 OSU release, Lonerider, but the two variets have different adaptation zones, such that Showdown is more centrally adapted in the southern and central Plains. Lonerider is more westerly adapted (High Plains). Showdown has competed very well in OSU and KSU wheat variety trails since 2017. It respones well to grazing with adequate seeding density and resembles Duster in Hessian fly resistance pattern. Disease resistance is broad, though the adult-plant leaf rust resistance in Showdown will benefit from a single fungicide application by OGI under the GrazenGrain trademark.
